LG Electronics India has declared the launch of a wide range of monitors composed of innovative features for the IT segment, including a 3D model with an objective to target gaming enthusiasts. According to the executive of LG, the company has a plan to gradually focus on LED monitors and slowly stop manufacturing LCD monitors as the purchasing decision of the consumers is gradually shifting towards the LED monitors. Presently, there is a price differentiation of around 10-15 per cent between LED and LCD television categories.
On the launch, Y V Verma, COO, LG India, “The company, which clocked the year 2010 with revenues of Rs 16,000 crore across various business segments, expects to close this year at about Rs 20,000 crore.” He also cited, “The IT products business spanning monitors and optical drives accounted for revenues of Rs 790 crore for LG India in 2010. This is likely to grow to about Rs 850 crore in 2011.”
LG plans to invest Rs. 800 crore in order to expand its manufacturing unit in India. Citing the growth chances of LG’s merchandise in India, Sanjoy Bhattacharya, Product Group Marketing Head, LG India, “The first quarter ended with a market share of 33.7 per cent for the company's monitor business. We hope to sustain this momentum with the launch of the new range in the course of the year, including slimmer ones while also focusing on the assembled PC business.”
Among all the latest products on offering, 3D Cinema Monitor composed of FPR technology is one of the most important category LG would like to concentrate into, on the other hand, world’s slimmest LED monitors of 7.2mm thickness and IPS (in-plane switching) monitor that offers fast response and flicker-free image.
