The Korean brand Samsung has released its free on-demand 3D service for the owners of its 3D compatible TV units in the United Kingdom. The present available service over the web offers limited content. Samsung believes that the demand for 3D is increasing rapidly that has enticed Samsung to go ahead with the offering of 3D content.
While declaring the launch, Samsung UK Consumer Electronic VP Andy Griffiths commented, “Samsung was not a broadcaster and earlier had no such target for make its own shows, but only the lack of 3D content globally is the main cause of its new venture. We have introduced our 3D LED TV in the last year and our present turnaround to 3D video-on-demand services d reveals our dedication and commitment in its expansion.”
It is also declared that collection of 3D movie trailers and lifestyle documentaries would be offered through the Explore 3D application that can easily be downloaded from the Samsung Smart Hub. On the other hand, Samsung is on the way into the domain of online content and dedicated TV apps. Once this is done, the users will get complete access to the videos on demand services such as Netflix and BBC iPlayer.
Andy Griffiths also said, “We believe that in the near future every viewer will have access to 3D content in the comfort of their own living room through a Smart TV. We will therefore continue to develop our Smart TV offering in order to provide consumers with the best viewing experience possible.”
The percentage of emergence of 3D content is very less globally as it required to touch a required count with the increasing emergence of 3D TVs everywhere. ESPN, among all the other 3D networks, was the first to launch a sports-dedicated 3D TV channel in the mid of last year. 3net has also released its 24 hours 3D broadcast.
Considering the similar problems, i.e., lack of 3D content, LG has provided an advanced 2D to 3D conversion features in its recently introduced Cinema 3D TV in various nations. The Cinema 3D TV of LG boasts all the advantages of LG Smart TV technology including its latest FPR 3D technology. The users of Cinema 3D TV can access to premium content via top global providers as well as the best in India (NDTV, Hungama, Zapak and Carwale).
